Interested in applying? Click here: The Shipping Clerk verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment. Position Specific Responsibilities - Compare identifying information, part numbers, serial numbers, and count, weigh, or measure items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading. - Communicate with supervisor daily on the specifics concerning quantities of parts being shipped and where they will be shipped to. - Ensure proper packing of parts being shipped; examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications. - Prepare required shipping forms, assemble boxes, create packing and/or part labels, pack cartons, and adhere packing slips/labels to cartons. - Call authorized freight companies to arrange the pick-up of shipments. - Receive all material, rough turned parts and daily deliveries from UPS, FedEx and other freight companies. - Verify merchandise received against the packing slip and purchase order. - Check deliveries for damage before signing receipt of goods. Unpack and examine incoming shipments, report damaged items, record shortages and report them to the Operations Manager. - Maintain accurate inventory of shipping materials, supplies, raw material, and finished goods. - Operate lift trucks or handcart to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area. - Perform other duties as necessary. Qualifications & Requirements - High school diploma or GED equivalent. - 1 to 2 years’ experience in an office or shop environment preferred. - Good math skills. - Able to handle multiple tasks; attention to detail. - Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills. - Intermediate in MS Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, Internet and ERP software (Epicor preferred). - Must possess valid driver’s license from his/her state of residence, forklift certifiable, able to obtain DOT health card. - Must be able to lift a minimum of 70 lbs. in a safe manner and request assistance when needed. - Moderate physical activity requiring agility and manual dexterity, including walking and standing for extended periods of time, or bending as well as lifting or moving objects.
