Description
Clearly you lack knowledge of American history. When our democracy was a young one, people literally got into fist fights in the street debating politics. In the 19th century, the two parties were so divided they went to war with one another in America's bloodiest domestic war.
The electorate is a dim-witted, fickle lot. When the executive and legislative branches are doing what we pay them to do, (working across the aisle, compromising, serving the American people,) we become bored and lose interest. Much of the chaos in Washington is theater to please and keep energized the voters.
