Learn to spin Poi with Rebecca DuBois
Poi is one of many dance props used for a style of dance/performance art commonly known as flow arts or more formally, object manipulation . Other common examples of flow arts props are hula hoops, veils, and fans.
Combining elements of dance and martial arts, Poi originated with the Māori people of New Zealand, but is now practiced across the globe.
"Poi" is a a type of object manipulation (or "flow arts"), that involves swinging tethered weights through a variety of rhythmical and geometric patterns. These tethered weights are also called poi. Poi is a skill toy as well as a performance art that is fun to practice and to watch!
Learn the art of poi with Rebecca DuBois. Rebecca is a multi-prop flow artist and Ringleader of Phoenix Bazaar, a VT-based fire-spinning performance troupe.
*This workshop does not involve any fire or open flame. Poi will not be on fire for this workshop.
