Description

Learn about spotted lanternfly and get a free spotted lanternfly collection kit at the end of the presentation. Spotted lanternfly (SLF) is a new invasive insect that is native to parts of Southeast Asia. It is a destructive pest that feeds on more than 100 plant species, including grapes, backyard cucumbers, and various hardwood trees. SLF was first detected in Pennsylvania in 2014 and has since spread to surrounding areas, including Maryland, New Jersey, NYC, and more recently, the Hudson Valley. On April 27, 2022 from 6:00 – 7:00pm Jim O’Connell will offer a free presentation on SLF, including a brief history of its introduction, what’s being done to manage populations, and what the public can do to help. Those who attend will also get a free SLF collection kit. At this time our safety policy does require all attendees to wear masks.
