Do you know how to protect and defend yourself if you ever needed to? Join us to learn self-defense techniques in various scenarios. Join Blue Star Families of Utah and Fortified Krav Maga for a special self-defense workshop. You'll learn and practice self-defense techniques in various real-world scenarios. This workshop is open to male or female spouses of active duty, National Guard, and Reserve. Due to space limitations, this event will be capped at 40 participants. Pre-registration is required. Please note that attendees will be required to sign a Fortified Krav Maga waiver before participating in the event. Wear clothing and shoes that you are comfortable moving and working out in and be sure to bring a water bottle. Light refreshments and snacks will be available after the workshop. What is Krav Maga?!? Originally built by the Israeli Defense Forces, Krav Maga is now known worldwide as one of the best ways to defend against real-world threats. The entire system is rooted in everyday applications, helping you stay ready to act at a moment's notice. Participants will be in close proximity with each other and may be working in pairs or small groups. There are currently no restrictions in place, however, participants may choose to wear a mask. Masks will be available.An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any place where multiple people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, senior citizens and Guests with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable to the effects of COVID-19. We at Blue Star Families strive to empower military families to thrive by connecting them with their civilian neighbors — both people and organizations — to create strong communities of support. As part of our core mission, Blue Star Families seeks to ensure military families experience a sense of belonging and welcome in the communities in which they live. As a result, we are once again beginning to host in-person events and want to do so in a safe way that gives our members, staff, consultants, and volunteers confidence.As a guest at any Blue Star Families event, I understand that I must wear appropriate PPE based on State and local requirements, as applicable for both indoor and outdoor events in my area. As guidance continues to evolve, Blue Star Families, with the support of health and government officials—will be making more gradual adjustments.
