Description

Experience the Magic of Balboa Park! Let me show you why Balboa Bark is known as the jewel and cultural heart of San Diego. Balboa Park was founded in 1868 when Alonzo Horton helped convince the city they should set aside 1400 acres of land for a public park. Today Balboa Park is the largest urban cultural park in the nation, home to over 15 museums, numerous cultural organizations and several beautiful gardens. The park's long and rich history includes 2 world expositions, the first in 1915 and second in 1935, and the military's use of the grounds for training during WW1 and WW2. My knowledge of Balboa Park's history has grown over the past few years as a volunteer tour guide and info desk attendant with Forever Balboa Park, the busiest visitor center in San Diego. You can be sure you've found a guide who is able to accurately explain the history of Balboa Park to your group. Base price is for up to 4 guests What To Expect: The tour begins at the Plaza de Panama in the center of Balboa Park. We will discuss the history of California and San Diego. Then we begin a one 1 mile walk on mostly flat pavement.
