Celebrate Women's History Month and local women whose leadership builds our community at the 2020-2022 Women of Achievement awards.
For the 36th year, Memphis and Shelby County women will be honored for changemaking leadership at the annual Women of Achievement awards and celebration of March National Women’s History Month.
Five local women plus those who led Citizens to Preserve Overton Park will be celebrated on March 27.
The celebration will be at First Congregational Church, 1000 Cooper, from 4-6 p.m., for honorees who were selected in 2020 when the COVID pandemic caused postponement of the awards reception.
Celebrate women who stand up and speak out – to preserve precious parkland, to assist homeless women, to reduce pharmacy costs with new technology, to protect women’s rights, to engage youth as changemakers and to discover and tell women’s stories.
New honorees are Ayile Arnett, Mahal Burr, Judy Card, Sandra Ferrell, Beverly Marrero and in the Heritage category the women who led CPOP. The 2012 Woman of Achievement for Heroism, author Summer Owens, will host the evening.
