Description

McClendon Law & Consulting will cover the legal side of a farmer’s wellbeing, estate and succession planning as well as heirs’ property. Many farmers are:  Overwhelmed with legal challenges impacting the ownership of their farmsFinding it difficult to maintain financial obligationsDealing with economic uncertainty associated with the pandemic and natural disastersNot getting enough sleep Taking on a large amount of work to maintain their farm Experiencing health-related challengesThese are the people who work hard every day to ensure that we have food to put on our tables. If we as a society aren’t willing to commit to ensuring their mental and physical well-being, then we’d better learn how to use a plow and a hoe and start growing our own food! McClendon Law and Consulting has received the opportunity to partner with Georgia Department of Agriculture on their Georgia Farmer Healthy Mindset project. This initiative is made possible in large part by a grant from United States Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture (“USDA-NIFA”). The goal of this project is to improve the mental health outcomes and reduce stress levels of Georgia farmers by developing, expanding and sustaining programs that provide stress and mental health outreach for these individuals and their families. McClendon Law and Consulting will be presenting workshops on a range of topics involving the legal side of a farmer’s wellbeing, including estate and succession planning and addressing heirs’ property. We will also have the opportunity to provide some reduced cost legal services to these critical members of our community.
