Description
HICKSVILLE, NY — Does your family fight to get the last bite of your homemade meatballs? Are people always asking you for your recipe? Think you've got what it takes to be crowned the meatball maestro of Long Island?
Then enter Long Island's Best Meatballs competition this Wednesday — National Meatball Day — at DiMaggio's Pizzeria in Hicksville. The winner will receive a $1,000 prize (as well as bragging rights), and all of the proceeds from the event will go to the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America to provide humanitarian aid to Ukrainians.
The contest starts at noon at DiMaggio's, located at 3 W. Village Green in Hicksville. Participants should bring at least a half-dozen of their finest meatballs.
Judging will be done by chef and "Sopranos" star Joseph Gannascoli, as well as social media star and food critic Sal "The Grubfather" Dibenedetto.
If eating meatballs is more your style, the restaurant will also be hosting a meatball eating competition. If you have an unquenchable appetite for meatballs, then this is your time to shine.
So if you think your meatball is the be-all of Long Island, then enter the competition on Wednesday.
