New MCC Foundation Endowed Funds Established

MANCHESTER, CT — The MCC Foundation is the recent recipient of two endowment-establishing gifts to help Manchester Community College students "achieve their educational goals." Peter and Susan Klock, of Glastonbury, established the Robert H. Fenn Endowed Scholarship Fund. Fenn was a founder of the college as well as the MCC Foundation. He also served in the capacity of, among other roles, chair of the MCC science department and dean of faculty. The fund provides scholarships for full- and part-time MCC students enrolled in a health career or science degree or certificate program. The estate of Lynne Kallman, who was a native of Hartford and resident of Manchester, established the Lynne Kallman Medical Endowed Scholarship Fund with a $25,000 gift to provide scholarships to students in a medical or healthcare-related MCC program. Kallman was born and raised in Manchester and, over the course of a 40-year career, worked at Manchester Memorial Hospital, as the accountant for the East Hartford Radiology Group and as the medical billing specialist for the Rockville Anesthesia Group. "Endowments are an important revenue source for community colleges and often support student scholarships and academic programs," MCC officials said. "By endowing a gift, donors make an investment that lasts in perpetuity in support of the college's educational mission. With MCC Foundation, an endowment fund can be established with a gift of $10,000 or more. Donors are acknowledged on the college's Donor Wall."
