**News release submitted by Rachel Chaleski campaign** Monday's rainy weather did not deter supporters who came out in droves for Republican State Representative candidate Rachel Chaleski. Chaleski announced her candidacy for Connecticut State Representative in the 138th District on Monday night at Anthony's Lake Club. The standing-room only crowd who came out to support her was clearly a cross section of America. Mayor Dean Esposito praised her as committed to the community. Mayor Esposito talked about Chaleski's qualities; "I know Rachel and I am confident that she will serve the residents of the 138th District with honor and integrity. I'm excited to support her, as she formally announces her candidacy tonight. Her strong work ethic and leadership will be critical for our city in the coming years." He went on to praise Chaleski as person who the voters of Danbury can count on to the right thing for the residents of the 138th District. Her strong leadership on Danbury's Board of Education is just what the voters need. When it was Chaleski's time to speak, the room roared with applause. She expressed overwhelming gratitude to her supporters and thanked them for coming. Her message was simple and clear, "I do not believe we are best represented by the current delegation; it's time to fully fund the Education Cost Sharing formula and bring a Charter School to Danbury; it's time to support those who work in Public Safety; and it's time to stop wasteful taxing and spending by the State." She went on to say; "In the over 20 years that my family has lived here, we've appreciated Danbury's low tax rates, but watched as our state taxes progressively increased, and witnessed people and businesses flee the state. We should take the same smart money management of our city and apply that at the state level. Our state should be laser focused on the overall economic health of our state; so that when our future generations are grown and looking for their own place to settle, raise a family and find their niche in the world, they may also choose to stay here for all the many reasons we know and love the City of Danbury." When it was Danbury Republican Town Committee Chairman Michael Safranek time to speak; He praised Rachel as a woman who has really worked hard for us, she is a person that people listen to and look to for leadership on the key issues facing us all. She is a person of the people. That is why I am here tonight, because I know Rachel is a good person and would make a great legislator." "Rachel is the person you want in this position; she works hard and always puts the residents first. I am proud to stand with her tonight as she formally announces her campaign for the 138th District." **News release submitted by Rachel Chaleski campaign**
