DANBURY, CT — Police have a suspect in custody following their investigation of a stabbing attack on Monday afternoon. Officers were dispatched to the area of the railroad tracks on Garamella Boulevard around 1:30 p.m. to check on the wellbeing of a man, only to find him suffering from an apparent stab wound to his neck. The victim was treated at the scene and taken to Danbury Hospital. His condition is unknown to the DPD. Police began their investigations and were soon able to recover a knife from the Still River, believed to have been used in the assault. Based on witnesses' descriptions of the assailant, police placed into custody Gregorio Melchor, of Franklin Street in Danbury. Melchor and the victim know each other, according to investigators who are still working to determine a motive for the assault.
