LONG BEACH, CA — A crash on the northbound 405 Freeway Wednesday morning caused a dump truck to catch fire and accidentally dump its load of rocks, prompting a SigAlert for three lanes of the freeway until at least 5 a.m.
The accident was first reported about 2:10 a.m. near the Palo Verde Avenue exit, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The truck hit a wall on the right side of a freeway on-ramp and caught fire, the CHP said.
Rocks were dumped across the Nos. 2, 3 and 4 lanes of the freeway and a SigAlert was issued until 5 a.m. while Caltrans crews cleaned up the debris, the CHP said.
There were no immediate reports of injuries.
