JOLIET, IL — Deidre Kemp, a 26-year-old Plainfield woman facing six counts of aggravated battery following a violent confrontation with two people at the A Salon Suite on Larkin Avenue last October, has surrendered to the Joliet police, authorities said. Back on Oct. 9, a man and a woman were attacked by Kemp in the Salon Suite, 218 South Larkin Ave., according to Joliet police reports. While the woman was inside Salon Suite, "Kemp approached her and began making derogatory comments towards her. Kemp continued to follow the female victim, at which time she pushed the victim and struck her in the face," police indicated. Kemp continued to attack the woman, biting and scratching her arm, police reports show. The woman ran from Kemp and escaped through the back door of the business, according to Joliet police. Kemp exited the front door of Salon Suite, approaching the victim's husband's vehicle, punching the man in the face twice, spitting on him, Joliet police reports reflect. The victims drove away and reported the incident to Joliet police. On Dec. 28, Joliet police got a warrant to arrest Kemp on six charges of aggravated battery. Now, more than two months later, Kemp has turned herself in at the Joliet Police Department at 10:40 a.m. on Monday. She was released from custody after posting her bond, police said.
