Description

GENEVA, IL — City contractors will be working on two portions of Geneva streets Tuesday and Wednesday to complete sanitary sewer lining projects, officials said. Starting at 9 a.m. March 8, eastbound State Street traffic, from Fourth to Third streets in downtown Geneva, will be limited to one lane. But all westbound lanes will remain open. City officials said Tuesday's work could potentially extend into evening rush hour. Crews will resume work on Wednesday but move to line sewers on Bennett Street, from Euclid Avenue to Jefferson Street. Flaggers will be directing traffic as it will be limited to one lane for both directions. Work on Bennett Street originally started March 3 but was halted due to equipment failure, according to city officials. In an announcement Tuesday, Geneva officials encouraged drivers to avoid the areas but use caution if they plan to drive through the work zones.
