ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a neighbor dispute, house burglaries, a battery, vandalism, a nursing home allegation, a car theft and damage to a business. Here is information from the latest local police reports: Neighbor dispute Two neighbors got into an argument about 5 p.m. Thursday in the 700 block of Geneva Avenue. One neighbor threatened the other, then spat on him. The suspect denied threatening or spitting on the other. Officers did not see any evidence of spitting. Both neighbors were asked to refrain from contacting each other. House burglaries A resident in the 300 block of South West Avenue told police Thursday that he was away and discovered that two televisions and clothing were stolen upon his return. The crime was listed as a burglary.A house was burglarized Nov. 25 in the 500 block of West Crockett Avenue. Jewelry and cash were stolen from a wall safe. The resident said he viewed surveillance video that showed the suspect entering the house without permission. An investigation is pending. The crime was reported Thursday. Battery A battery occurred about 3 a.m. Sunday in the 100 block of East Park Avenue. A person told police that an argument escalated when a stranger used an open palm to push the person's face. The person did not want to sign a complaint, but wanted the matter documented. The suspect was described as white, 18 years old, and having brown hair and bushy eyebrows. Vandalism A custodian reported spray-painted graffiti Thursday in the cement dugout at the softball field at Bryan Middle School, 111 W. Butterfield Road. Nursing home allegation A resident at The Grove nursing home, 127 W. Diversey Ave., told police Thursday that a worker had come into his room to check on him. The resident raised his fist to the worker, and the worker hit him. The resident does not know who the employee was. An officer did not see any redness or swelling on the resident's face. The incident happened about noon Feb. 27. Car theft Enterprise Leasing, 896 N. York St., told police Friday that a customer failed to return a rental car after it was involved in a car accident. Enterprise contacted the customer, who has ceased all communication with the company. The car was rented out Feb. 3. An investigation is pending. Tree removed A tree along the street was removed, dragged down the roadway and then left standing upright by a light pole overnight Friday in the 400 block of South Cottage Hill Avenue. Damage to business An officer spotted damage to the Catalano & Associates building, 115 W. Adelaide St., about 8 p.m. Saturday. Bricks from the side of the building fell on the sidewalk. The building owner was contacted. Man falls Officers were called about a man who had fallen on the pathway at Berens Park, 493 N. Oaklawn Ave. The man had a cut on his chin. He refused medical assistance. Keyed car A woman told police that her car was damaged with a key between 3:30 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday while it was parked in the 100 block of Fairlane Avenue. Driving violations Abbey Isler, 25, of Romeoville, was cited about 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the 200 block of West First on a charge of failing to notify the owner upon damage to an unattended vehicle. She was released on bond.Roberto Carrillo Candelario, 50, of Addison, was cited about 2 p.m. Saturday at Lake and Grand on charges of no valid driver's license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.Kevin Klemm, 45, of Melrose Park, was cited about 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the 900 block of North York on charges of driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle while using a phone. He was cited on bond. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and people charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
