Beaverton Changes Mask Policies For Council Meetings, Services

BEAVERTON, OR — The pandemic is not over but the omicron-driven surge that has gripped the city is receding. As a result, Beaverton announced a bunch of changes to how they do business. First, they are expanding in-person services to several parts of the city while stressing that they are keeping virtual services available for those who can't risk the visit. "The city remains committed to health and safety during this time," the city said in a statement. "Visitors and staff are encouraged to continue practicing all public health guidelines." Citing guidance from county and state health officials, Beaverton will drop its mask requirement for staff and visitors at all city facilities starting on Saturday, March 12. Officials say that they will continue to support people who choose to wear masks and other protective equipment. Beaverton is also changing its city council meeting schedule. From now on, the meetings will be held on the first and third Tuesday of every month instead of on the second or fourth Tuesday. Fourth Tuesdays will he held for meetings of the Beaverton Urban Redevelopment Agency.
