BURNSVILLE, MN —A spokesman for Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191 announced just before 3 p.m. Tuesday that the approximately three and a half hour lockdown at the school had come to an end, and that police did not find any weapons. The school had gone into lockdown at approximately 11:30 a.m. after a report of a weapon at the school building. Burnsville police confirmed in a 2:46 p.m. tweet that they had completed their search of the school and that no weapon had been found. "Investigative teams continue to look into the report," the BPD said. According to the district, students were released from the school at around 3 p.m. and buses were running on their normal routes. However, all after-school activities and athletics scheduled for Tuesday at BHS were canceled, the district said. "Again, thank you for your patience and support during today's activities," Burnsville Principal Dave Helke wrote in a letter to parents and guardians informing them of the end of the lockdown and student-dismissal procedures. At that time, police were asking BHS parents to go to Eden Baptist Church, 1313 Hwy. 13, to wait for their children and for more information, according to KARE 11. At 12:12 p.m., the Burnsville Police Department said on Twitter that it was responding to the report of a weapon at the school. "No injuries have been reported and officers are on the scene. Please stay away from the area so we can ensure everyone is safe," the BPD wrote. A spokesperson for the Dakota County Sheriff's Office also confirmed it was one of several other law-enforcement agencies that had sent officers to the scene.
