CORNELIUS, NC — A local business is stirring up some excitement for e-biking, which is a creative way to get around and even save gas.
Electric bikes are growing in popularity, evidenced by the full booking last weekend at Pedego Electric Bikes Lake Norman.
Pedego Electric Bikes Lake Norman opened in October, and the family-owned business offers e-bike rentals starting at $35, which is a lot less than a tank of gas these days.
They also have a showroom where they sell Pedego e-bikes and offer free test rides.
"From the moment we took our first ride on a Pedego electric bike, we knew we had to bring the fun to Lake Norman! Renting an e-bike is the perfect way to spend a day out with friends, get to know the area if you're new or visiting, spend time with your teens, or celebrate a special occasion," said Grace Kennedy, co-owner of Pedego.
Kennedy told Patch that e-bikes can also help people who have a hard time operating manual bikes, letting people who couldn't ride together enjoy biking again.
And of course, e-bikes are emission free, so that's an added benefit for those who want to get out, enjoy nature and not risk polluting the air.
They also sell the bikes in addition to renting them. Pedego Electric Bikes Lake Norman is located at the Antiquity Shopping Center, 19911 Zion Avenue D3, Cornelius.
Rentals are booked online at www. PedegoLKN.com or by calling 704-997-5051.
