Here are the top three stories in Grand Rapids today: The Kent County Board of Public Works has approved a project development agreement with Kent County Bioenergy Facility to work on a new reuse facility. The $350 million proposal would turn waste into fertilizer, roofing materials, and renewable energy for the West Michigan area. The project would need to start by 2024 to allow the county time to divert waste for use by the facility. (WOODTV.com)The Roberto Clemente Park has received the prestigious Michigan Recreation & Park Association 2021-22 Park Design award. The annual award is meant to recognize a Michigan park on local significance, innovation, aesthetics, and functionality. Roberto Clemente Park is located at 546 Rumsey St SW. (Press Release Desk)New Grand Rapids Police Chief Eric Winstrom was sworn in this morning by City Clerk Joel Hondorp. The event took place in the City Hall Commission Chambers. Chief Winstrom was chosen for the position after an extensive national search. The new chief replaces former Chief Payne who retired on Mar. 4, 2022.
