LONG BEACH, CA — After gunshots were heard in the Pike Outlets area of Long Beach Saturday night, police now believe the shots may not have hit anyone. Officers heard gunshots before 7 p.m. Saturday near Pine Avenue and Shoreline Drive and discovered evidence of the shooting scene, according to the Long Beach Police Department. The department dispatched a large presence to the area, although some Twitter posters said the police had already been on at the scene ahead of the reported gunfire. Traffic was redirected from Pine Avenue to Seaside Way and shoppers were told to clear the area. The crowd dispersed and no victim was located, and the incident is now being investigated as a no-hit shooting, a department spokesperson said. The City News Service contributed to this report.
