TUSCALOOSA, AL — A $1,700 cash reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the theft and vandalism of two battle crosses in Tuscaloosa Veterans Memorial Park in February. Click here to subscribe to our free daily newsletter and breaking news alerts. The reward is made possible by the Alabama Marines Foundation and Veterans Memorial Park Association of Tuscaloosa County Park & Recreation Authority (PARA). During routine park patrols, officers with the Tuscaloosa Police Department (TPD) on Feb. 10 discovered that the helmet and rifle replica from the WWII battle cross had been stolen, in addition to the Korean War battle cross being damaged. Those with information are asked to contact TPD's Criminal Investigations Division at (205) 248-4520. Have a news tip or suggestion on how I can improve Tuscaloosa Patch?
