Anybody making fun of Albany's musical history of rock, has no idea of what was.Starting in the mid sixties at The Aerodrome in Schenectady,SUNY,SPAC,Palace Theatre hosted all the bands of the day,Led Zep,Janice Joplin,Chuck Berry.Around 1970 my dad took me to see Chicago,Santana,The Guess Who,Blood Sweat and Tears,Joe Cocker at SPAC.My high school years through the mid 70,s at the Palace I saw ACDC,Aerosmith,Kiss,Rainbow,Lynyrd Skynyrd,UFO,The Outlaws,Robin Trower,Blackfoot,and many others.Allens in Scotia,The Hullabaloo in Rens,JB Scotts in Albany brought in Saxon,Pat Travers,The Police,The Ramones,The Pretenders,Judas Priest.I even saw the Talking Heads and George Thorogood at the Madison Theatre.Great bands were playing all around us,All the time.You can be as miserable as you want but I am proud and fortunate to have grown up in this area,once the hot bed of rock.
