Description
This is independent skilled work in all phases of aerial underground construction and repair. Work entails daily problem-solving skills, job estimation, job management, pole climbing, loading and unloading equipment and materials. Ability/willingness to travel up to 50% of the time. Read and interpret design/construction drawings Create Safe Plan of Action (Hazard Assessment) prior to starting work at each job location each day, review with crew and update as conditions change Working on aerial spans, place strand, lashing cable and fiber for new and existing plant, including pole transfers Safely operate a Bucket Truck, hand tools, power tools, standard telecommunications tools (lasher and other cable placement tools), work off a ladder, signal level meters, voltmeters, and other test equipment Load/Unload materials on truck for project scope Work outside in varying conditions, 5-6 days per week Work mandatory overtime as required, if involved with emergency/disaster recovery work Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair or replace the customer's equipment as needed Place, transfer and remove poles Work closely with the Supervisor and Project Managers for work assignments such as data collection, test procedures, close out package information Complete paperwork, timesheets, test results, vehicle inspection and logs Maintains a clean and organized company vehicle/equipment Assists other project team members in the performance of their duties when requested to support the overall program May perform other duties not listed Here's What You'll Need: A valid, unrestricted driver's license required Commercial driver's license preferred, but not required Being able to obtain a DOT medical card to drive a commercial motor vehicle is required Must be able to work aloft up to 40 feet in a bucket truck or on a ladder is required Having basic knowledge of and the ability to operate various types of utility trucks and equipment in a safe manner is required Ability to climb poles with hooks and belt, familiarity with working near energized lines is required Regular and timely attendance is an essental function and is required Self-motivated, ambitious, and energetic individual with proven record of high productivity and performance is required Ability to work efficiently in a time sensitive setting is required Ability to work professionally while communicating effectively with customer and employees is required Certified in First Aid/CPR is preferred Technical knowledge such as computer skills is preferred Physical Requirements Must be able to perform the above for at least 8 hours per day, 5-6 days per week. May be required to work overtime; after hours; on weekends and for emergencies or on call Ability to work while wearing safety boots, safety gloves, safety glasses and hardhat Ability to work in adverse weather conditions which may include, but is not limited to: extreme heat, extreme cold, inclement weather such as wind, rain, snow, sleet and dust, as well as adverse driving conditions including wet roads, icy roads and fog Employees in this job classification may be exposed to dust, fumes or other airborne pathogens Must be able to lift/carry 70 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs as needed with or without assistance Must successfuly complete and have passing score of all mandatory company certifications and training Essential Functions: Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Hand manipulation is required for grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized. Need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, as well as below the shoulder for same. Must be alert to equipment in the field, there will be travel, will work near construction job site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights.
