It’s been 3 full days since Nutmeg went missing. We’ve had tons of friends and neighbors searching for her; and as of this posting, she sadly has not even been sighted. I have received several helpful ideas and have come up with what I think is the best possible plan for a good outcome. I need to enlist several neighbors and area neighborhoods of The Reserves in Ocean View, though, to make this effective. The recommendation is to search within 4 blocks of home. Please, if you are in these areas (The Reserves, Shady Dell, Quaint Acres, Bear Trap, off Woodland Avenue, Lord Baltimore), help me find my girl using the below tips, especially between dusk and dawn. Tonight will be very cold, so please protect yourself as well. And if you have friends who are also willing to help that may not see this post, please alert them of our efforts. Here are the tips I’ve received: • If you have an outside camera, put wet/smelly food (microwave to increase scent) and water out in the evening. She’s got to eat and drink water! Pick it up during the day if you notice it’s attracting strays. If you capture a picture of a cat, please send to me. o Go out in the quiet evening (10:30pm-6:30am is best timeframe) with a flashlight, shaking a bag of treats (I can provide if you need) or an open can of tuna or wet smelly food (microwaved). Softly call her name, Nutmeg, while searching for her reflecting eyes from the flashlight. No need to go into woods. Stay in an open area. • Please check your area (and your neighbors who don’t live here permanently) in these places: o Crawl space wells o Under porches o Garages o Under cars (and under hood) o In sheds o Outdoor lawn furniture o Under grill and table tarps o Under bushes, among wood piles o Any hiding place you can imagine for a cat • If you spot a cat, please take a picture first; and then try to coax with food. At your earliest, please send me the photo and location (so we can narrow our search if it’s her). • Coastal Point will be placing a notice in their next 3 issues. There currently are fliers in Shady Dell, The Reserves, and in some high-traffic businesses. I will be printing more fliers today once I receive the color ink cartridge, and this flier will be more noticeable. If you are not a night owl, this could be where you can help during the day by getting more fliers out (within 4 blocks of Paradisio Greens). If interested, let me know; and I will advise when I have some are ready for distribution. • The more eyes, the better chance. Please share this post. Post at your HOA. I will be visiting Brandywine Valley SPCA today and every 3 days. If you know of any other shelters within the area, please advise. A Pet Amber alert has been issued so the vets in the area should know. I will be sprinkling used litter and articles of used clothing in my yard. If you and/or anyone else you know can help our search, I would be eternally grateful !!
