Full Job Description Aspire Food Group is a global food-tech company based in Austin, Texas. We address food security and food sustainability by developing pioneering technology to commercialize the cleanest and most ethical source of animal protein in the world: insects. The role of the Cricket R&D Technician is to assist in the maintenance and optimization of the life cycle of crickets while maintaining Aspire’s quality and safety standards. This position will be responsible for the following processes, including but not limited to; laying, hatching, feeding, watering, and harvesting insects in husbandry rooms, as well as all preparation and cleanup required for and from those tasks. In addition to the above, Cricket R&D Technicians are responsible for the daily cleaning of the facility. As a team member of Aspire, this position may be expected to perform other duties as needed to help support the business. Business hours are 7:00 am-3:30 pm with 5-day shifts spanning all 7 days. Essential Skills/Characteristics Attention to Detail: Must strictly follow multiple clean room protocols and organizational policies Communication: Teamwork and communication within and across multiple departments are essential to our success! Innovative: Ability to identify opportunities for process improvements; work collaboratively to generate creative solutions to organizational efficiency Responsibilities and Duties All general cricket-rearing duties Touch and handle live insects Precisely collect and record animal husbandry data Clean and organize facility Assist in maintaining environmental controls General support and projects as needed Support facility and organizational sustainability efforts Qualifications and Skills Must be able to move equipment weighing up to 50lbs with minimal assistance Must be able to ascend/descend ladders and stairs, access low and tight spaces, move down narrow aisles Must be able to work, often standing, for at least two hours without a significant break Must be able to work with, manipulate, and clean containers at a variety of heights ranging from on the ground to head height Must have a tolerance for labor in warm and humid working conditions Must be punctual and have reliable transportation Must own a smartphone and have the functional ability to use phone applications Must have a strong attention to detail Benefits A pay raise every 90 days for the first year Paid vacation and sick time Medical, dental, vision, and life/AD&D benefits. 401k.
