The myth about the United States being self sufficient ( not relying on Foreign oil and oil products ) is being circulated now because of the Ukraine war. The United States is and has been a large exporter and importer of Petroleum and petroleum products for decades. Russia happens to be ONE of the countries we import oil from. Canada, Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Russia are in the top four countries we buy oil from. The MYTH that we are totally independent when it comes to oil production of oil used in this country is just that -- a MYTH. People in the know should not be spreading this myth to the American public. This MYTH is just part of the misinformation circulating in this country. If it helps to stop buying oil from Russia helps the Ukrainian People -- I'm all for it.
