I'm helping a local scientist complete his book on the environmental crisis in the Amazon, and would like to recruit motivated high school or college students for a deforestation satellite survey project. This is real, and hopefully impactful research on the environmental crisis. It's also not difficult and might be a fun project. If you're a teacher or environmental group, this could be an interesting project and I am available to help organize. If it goes well, it could be the basis of a publicity campaign demonstrating how students are able to get involved in climate science and contribute to awareness. Two or three motivated students is all it would really take. If interested, please tell me give me a quick idea of how you propose to help put this together. thanks!
