I am a guitarist and singer/songwriter seeking an electronically minded producer to mind meld with. I love Grouper and have been deep into ambient and drone in general and want to bring more ambient music to NYC. I find that there really isn’t much of an ambient scene here besides the Ambient Church shows. I sing like Scott Walker and want to take that booming theatricality and wrap it up in gossamer thread. I want to find someone to help push me out of the acoustic lyrical singer/songwriter. There’s so many wry and confessional songwriters out there despite the fact lyrics meaning less and less. Elisabeth Fraser and Jonsi have the right idea, better make your own musical language than milling about with the pedestrian languages (mainly looking at you English). Dan Bejar’s Destroyer’s Kaputt/Bay of Pigs era and Dean Blunt are also other “ambient pop” artists I find inspiring and maybe you do too?
