Description
LIVERMORE, CA — Firefighters made quick work Saturday of a small brush fire in Livermore believed to have been started by a juvenile playing with fireworks.
The fire was reported to the Livermore Pleasanton Fire Department at 1:46 p.m. in the 2400 block of Broadmoor Street, and crews had it doused by 2:15 p.m., said Battalion Chief Dan Moyles. The fire sent smoke billowing into the sky, and the plume could be seen for miles in Dublin and Pleasanton. The blaze came within 10 feet of a property line, but no one had to be evacuated, Moyles said. The fire scorched 9.1 acres, he added.
No one was injured in the blaze, and an assessment of the cost of the damages has not been released.
Police and fire officials spoke to the juvenile, who admitted to playing with fireworks in the area, Moyles said. The investigation is ongoing, he added.
