The Building Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing general repair and maintenanc services to the Choate Rosemary Hall Community.This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position eligible for benefits and paid time off. Duties and Responsibilities: Performs routine general maintenance to include but not limited to, interior and exterior painting, interior and exterior maintenance, maintenance, and repair to building ceilings, walls, doors windows and floors, and general repairs to building exteriors.  Responsible for completing work orders. Provide services necessary for seasonal turnover of dormitories and faculty residences to prepare for school opening and new arrivals. Provide services that meet building codes and generally accepted construction standards. Provide support and service for school events that will include some evening and weekend hours. Shall follow all applicable OSHA and NFPA codes/standards in the shop and on campus. (i.e., confined space entry, ladder safety, etc.). Maintain shop and all work areas in a neat and orderly manner. Provide maintenance of campus roofing and gutter systems. Assist with the operation of the lock shop. Requirements: High school degree or equivalent. Additional trade school or continuing education preferred. 1 year of experience in a maintenance trade. Must possess and maintain a valid Connecticut driver's license. Competency and understanding of OSHA General Industry standards.  30-hour OSHA certification or equivalent preferred.   Working at Choate: Choate Rosemary Hall is a coeducational, independent secondary school located in central Connecticut with 850 boarding and day students and over 350 employees.
