Course DescriptionEager to learn tips and tricks for planting perennials? Looking for a hands-on learning experience while also adding beauty and joy to our community? Join instructor Sam Oschwald Tilton for Planting Perennials, a Community Education course offered through Lakeshore Technical College.
This course prepares the homeowner to incorporate perennial plantings into their yard and garden design. We will take a grassed lawn and transform it into a perennial bed for a non-profit daycare center. In the process, we will practice and talk about soil preparation, site analysis, planting technique, plant varieties, and planning for maintenance.
About the InstructorSam Oschwald Tilton is passionate about creating community and beauty through plants. Although his expertise is in growing vegetables, his role as Landscape Horticulture Instructor at lakeshore Technical College has him designing, planting, and caring for perennial plant communities that require less maintenance and provide beauty throughout the year. Sam has a Master’s degree in horticulture and has traveled around the US and the world visiting gardens and farmers.
DetailsDate: Saturday, May 21, 2022
Time: 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
Location: Start at LTC Sheboygan at 8 a.m. for some brief classroom instruction. Then, we'll take a field trip to A Million Dreamz, a non-profit daycare located at 418 Geele Ave in Sheboygan.
Please dress appropriately to play in the soil and be outside for 4 hours. Bring a water bottle and a hat or sunscreen.
Cost: $18.60
