The urban mushroom farmers at Smallhold and hibiscus water makers at Ruby have joined forces for an out of this world collaboration. Join us at Sammataro for the release of a one-day-only Ruby x Smallhold pink oyster mushroom pizza. Smallhold is growing a special crop of their elusive Pink Oyster mushrooms to grace the Sammataro's "spectacular" slices. Drop by their spot in East Austin for this out of this world menu special. But why the celebration, you ask? Allow us to share the lore of this day... Many millennia ago, or wait... was it in the future? At some point in the convex of time a subtle rumble, rumbled across the land of Planet Pleurotus Djamor, which resides in the fourth quadrant of The Rubyverse. Planet PD was known for its elfin-like population, a gentle civilization who sowed the land with love and care (and some agricultural tools too). The main crop of Planet PD was an alien-like - or rather, just alien - fungi known as the oyster mushroom. But on this day, the specific one we're talking about. The one where there was an ever so subtle rumble, a most unusual oyster popped out of the ground, with beautiful pink hues smiling across the caps. The elfin PD-ers marveled at this discovery. They questioned what precisely to do with this new mushroom, some wanted to eat it immediately, others wanted to see if it could be replicated for growth. They all agreed that one act was surely more definitive than the other, so sporulate it they did, and soon there were fields of pink oyster mushrooms. On the 18th day of PD-spring, they threw a pizza blamjam to celebrate the newest family member of their tiny little planet. And goodness was that pink oyster mushroom delicious. The elfin-like populace knew that this should be regarded as a delicacy, too much of a good thing can turn rotten real quick, this they had learned from the great Rubyverse sugar wars from centuries in the past. So once a year, on the 18th day of spring they would throw an all-day pizza blamjam to celebrate this most unusual crop - dance, sing, eat, and drink Ruby they would do all-day long, which based on Einstein's gravitational time dilation is equivalent to 72-hours in Earthtime. So on the 18th day of March, Ruby and Smallhold will commemorate this day by throwing an intergalactic pizza party at Sammataro Pizza (in East Austin, TX) and then again at Ops (in Bushwick, Brooklyn) on Sunday, March 20th. We celebrate the deity of reciprocity.
