This convening will provide local LGBTQ communities with the opportunity to speak to their own experiences of being LGBTQ in Tulare County! #Out4MentalHealth (#O4MH) is a statewide project that advances mental health equity, provides resources to build capacity in local LGBTQ+ communities, and represents a coalition of voices at state-level policy discussions. The #Out4MentalHealth Tulare County Convening will provide local LGBTQ communities with the opportunity to speak to their own experiences of being LGBTQ in Tulare County, share resources and information, and build solidarity to advocate for mental health equity. This local convening is an opportunity to identify local LGBTQ community’s mental health needs, create a collaborative environment to support ongoing advocacy, and provide attendees with skills and information they can use to improve access to LGBTQ affirming mental health care in their communities. The convening will be a catalyst for mental health systems change efforts within the community. The #Out4MentalHealth Local Convening will be focused on building solidarity by using culturally affirming practices and core MHSA values of wellness, resilience, and recovery as a foundation for mental health equity. Light refreshments, coffee, and beverages will be available in the morning followed by a catered lunch at 12:30pm! Doors open at 9am followed by an opening keynote speaker on the importance of advocacy in our community. There will be several panels including panels on Recovery, Mental Health, LGBT 101, and Mindfulness and Meditation. We are so excited to have all of you at The Woodlands on April 13th for a day of Mental Health LGBTQ advocacy!
