San Diego walking tour visits the Gaslamp Artisan Market, Seaport Village, Tuna Harbor Dockside Market, and Little Italy's Farmer's Market. *Tour starts at the Gaslamp Arch, near the Starbucks Coffee shop at 209 5th Avenue Visit 3 different markets every Saturday morning in Downtown San Diego. This is one of my favorite things to do as a local! The Gaslamp Quarter is one of the oldest neighborhoods in San Diego, located in the heart of today's modern downtown. Join Kris for a walk through this historic area to learn about it's beginnings as a rival to "Old Town" due to its prime location near the bay. We'll talk about early pioneers like William Heath Davis and Alonzo Horton who's vision helped shape the future of America's finest city. Our main focus will be on 5th avenue with its beautifully restored Victorian buildings. As we are walking through the Gaslamp Quarter we'll also be in the Gaslamp Artisan Market which takes place every Saturday and Sunday. This is a perfect time to view the buildings because the street is blocked off. After the Gaslamp we will continue our walk through Seaport Village to the Tuna Harbor Dockside Market, where the public can purchase fresh caught seafood direct from local fishermen. This market is only open on Saturdays from 8am-3pm, or until they are sold out. We'll pass by the USS Midway Museum and the Maritime Museum of San Diego before we enter the Little Italy Mercato Farmers’ Market. Here you can enjoy a coffee, gelato, slice of pizza, or anything else that catches your eye at the market. This is my favorite outdoor market in All of San Diego! Make sure to bring your camera, or mobile phone and I will point out some amazing photos you can take along the way. This walk is suitable for ages 3 and up. All minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The terrain is mostly flat pavement. Sunscreen, water, hat, and sunglasses are recommended when the weather is hot.
