Description

Put on your biggest, classiest, and most elegant hat as we enjoy brunch and a cup of tea with those Fort Bragg Deltas. Fort Bragg Area Alumnae Chapter (FBAAC) introduced the Big Hat Brunch (BHB) to the Fayetteville/ Fort Bragg community in March 2010 as its annual scholarship fundraiser. Over the past 10 years, the BHB net profit exceeds $40k. To date, over 30 high school graduates have received scholarships to assist with their post-secondary education. Lisa Bryant excelled at everything in her short life. By the age of three, her parents noticed that she was reading. At the age of 10, she raised thousands of dollars for the Monterey County, California Chapter of the March of Dimes. While in high school, she was the first African-American in Virginia to be elected Governor of Girls State. Lisa went on to Princeton University where she became Vice President of her Freshmen class, convinced the University’s President to revive the cheerleading program, and was commissioned a second lieutenant before graduating Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Sociology. To honor Lisa’s dedication to education, the Fort Bragg Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated established the 2LT Lisa Nicole Bryant Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving undergraduate military family member attending Fayetteville State University who exemplifies a commitment to education while majoring in Sociology, Psychology, or Education.
