This class is designed for any person who already has some basic knowledge about wine and wishes to learn the fundamentals of how to pair wine and food. In this class we will be exploring different developmental strategies in the exquisite art of wine and food paring. This new skill set can allow increased enjoyment in your daily life as well as a new enthusiasm to be able to organize your own parties and share with your family and friends your new skills of wine and food pairing.
Syllabus
• BASIC INGREDIENTS In this section you will learn the distinct categories of base ingredients that you need to know to start developing your wine and food pairing expertise.
• COOKING METHODS: You will learn the different cooking methods and how to use them with a particular dish so as to narrow your selection of wine.
• BRIDGE INGREDIENTS: In this section you will learn about and how to use different spices, herbs, and wines to create a bridge between the food and your favorite wine.
• Learn the strategies of food and wine flavor pairing: Compliment and contrast.
• Apply what you have learned by looking at dishes from some of your favorite menus and practice pairing them with the best wine choices.
• This section of the course will facilitate connecting amongst participants as they work together to give each other suggestions based on what they’ve learned in the “theory” portion of the course. You may even make new wine friends to be able go out to dinner with to put your learning into practice!
