Doylestown Dairy Queen Sign Stolen, Police Say

DOYLESTOWN, PA — Central Bucks Regional Police are looking for who was responsible for stealing the Dairy Queen sign on North Main Street. The store at 318 N. Main St. closed on Nov. 23, giving thieves an opportunity to take the sign while no one was watching. The stolen sign was set to be sold to a franchise in Ohio, Dairy Queen owner Steve Vernachio told Bucks County News Feed. He added that they are looking to open another location in Doylestown to fill the void that was left by the previous store's closing. Earlier this year, Vernachio purchased the former Cherry Top Drive-In in Pipersville and replaced it with a new Dairy Queen location, which is set to reopen in March after closing for the winter season. The North Main Street property was highly south after, Vernachio said in February, leading to the decision to sell the property. Earlier this year, the borough approved a developer's plan to build a Chase Bank and medical office on the site, with construction expected to start in 2021.
