Description

African American Submarine Experience The Minnesota Navy League is proud to present the African American Submarine Experience. We are bringing together a once in a lifetime group of five distinguished African American submariners to talk about their personal and profound journeys as career US Navy submariners. Each of our speakers will be speaking as if it were the last speech they will ever give, to tell us about their personal and profound journeys as African Americans in the United States Navy Submarine Force and what we should learn and take from that experience. Each of our speakers have had an African American “First” in their career as they became distinguished leaders in one of the most challenging jobs in the worlds greatest Navy. They have set a high bar for their fellow submariners, as well as paved the way toward a more inclusive submarine force and inclusive Navy. They include men and women, officer and enlisted, active duty and retired, from multiple generations to provide us with a unique perspective. Recent events in our own community have shown us we have work to do with regard to diversity, inclusion, and social justice. Please join us for an evening of education and inspiration in a once in a lifetime speaking engagement.
