Description

METRA and the Nature Conservancy are teaming up for a work day at the Disney Wilderness Preserve METRA members have a great opportunity to spend some time together helping Mother Nature and The Nature Conservancy at the amazing Disney Wilderness Preserve. Here's the project we've been asked to undertake: DWP has four small garden beds that aim to feature native plants that support pollinators. Help may be needed to weed, till, fertilize, remove invasive species, plant, or construct garden edges and pathways. Our efforts will support native pollinators and create opportunities for Preserve visitors to connect with nature. TNC requests that participants in this event be18 or older, and has asked us to cap participation at 20 people. Volunteers need to bring the following: Closed toed shoesLong pantsBug and sun protectionFace maskWater and snacksGloves and tools will be provided by The Nature Conservancy. Our group will be in close proximity to restrooms for the duration of the volunteer shift. For questions or additional details, contact Kyle Lapic at [email protected] or 407-548-7019. The DWP is one of four flagship preserves in Florida and you can learn more about it at this link: https://www.nature.org/en-us/get-involved/how-to-help/places-we-protect/the-disney-wilderness-preserve/ Join us at our next meeting! METRA is a great group of professionals striving to spread environmental compliance training to businesses throughout Central Florida for FREE or as close to free as we can. We also provide a $1,000 scholarship each year to a college student pursuing a degree focused on environmental disciplines. We are an all-volunteer organization that accepts donations and sponsorships to help us give back to the community by sharing our members' knowledge and experience.
