Business Owners Donate Compression Socks To Doylestown Hospital

DOYLESTOWN, PA — Two local business owners have donated 100 pairs of compression socks to Doylestown Health. Fred and Christina Swain, owners of Compression Essentials, provided the footwear to Doylestown Hospital on Monday. The donation was co-sponsored by the Scott Irvin Re/Max Home Selling Team of Doylestown. "We wanted to give back to the community," Fred Swain said. "My wife is a nurse so we know firsthand how important compression socks are to the medical field. With pandemic going on and nurses on their feet working long hours, it seemed like the perfect time." The Swains opened Compression Essentials in August. The donation was received outside the Cardiovascular and Critical Care Pavilion at Doylestown Hospital by LeAnn Warfel, a registered nurse and Director of Acute Cate and Vascular Access Team at Doylestown Health, and Marcy Mikalaitis, a clinical manager, on behalf of the nursing staff. "During these difficult and stressful times, it is wonderful to know that there are generous and caring individuals in the community who are thinking of the nurses here at Doylestown Hospital," Mikalaitis said. "The compression socks are an especially appropriate gift as they will help alleviate the tired and sore legs and feet of many of our nurses."
