UPDATE: The crash has been clear, but traffic still remains backedup. SAUGUS, MA — Route 1 traffic heading south is heavily backed up after a crash near the Square One Mall Monday morning. The crash took place just before the Essex Street exit in Saugus. Traffic is backed up to Walnut Street. WBZ reported there were injuries in the crash.
