VIENNA, VA — The Town of Vienna is receiving COVID-19 recovery funds to help residents with delinquent municipal utility bills. On Monday, Town Council will vote on accepting $63,046.89 in Federal, State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds.
The Municipal Utility Assistance Program is part of the recovery funds through the American Recovery Plan Act. Funds can be used to assist Town of Vienna utility customers who have delinquent utility bills greater than 60 days between March 12, 2020 and Aug. 31, 2021. The funds are designed to help customers financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The town provides water service to about 5,600 customers, including a portion outside town limits. Previously, federal CARES Act funds allocated through the state were sent to utilities to pay delinquent bills for customers with financial troubles due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
