Several Lake County High School Students Win Merit Scholarships

LAKE COUNTY, IL — Several high school seniors from high schools across Lake County were among roughly 1,000 corporate-sponsored scholarship winners announced Wednesday in the 65th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. These special awards are financed by around 160 corporations, company foundations and other business organizations. Recipients can use these awards for any regionally accredited U.S. college or university, according to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Some scholarships are renewable for up to four years of college undergraduate study and have annual stipends between $1,000 and $10,000. Some scholarships offer a single payment between $2,500 and $5,000. The following area high school students received scholarships: Carmel Catholic High School — Mundelein Benjamin J.
