NAUGATUCK, CT — A 43-year-old Naugatuck woman was arrested on a warrant by Naugatuck police last month, accused of forging a quitclaim deed to fraudulently obtain an unnamed property, according to authorities.
In addition to second-degree forgery, Shanika Jackson, of Briarwood Road, also was charged with criminal attempt at electronic stalking in connection with the incident.
Naugatuck police opened an investigation in January, when the victim discovered the forged document and "a GPS tracking device in his vehicle," authorities said.
"Through investigation, the accused was found to have forged the victim's signature on a Quitclaim Deed thereby removing him from ownership of a property as well as purchasing and registering a gps tracking device which was found in the victim's vehicle," Naugatuck police said in a statement.
Jackson turned herself in at Naugatuck Police Headquarters last month, and was released after posting a $10,000 Surety Bond. She is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on March 9.
