Amtrak Modifies Train Service In Harford, Cecil After Derailment

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — A freight train that derailed over the weekend is still impacting the rails in Harford County. Some commuters who are headed north from Washington, D.C., will have to get off at the Edgewood station on Monday night, according to the Maryland Transit Administration. Crews will be conducting emergency work to fix the Amtrak tracks where 20 freight train cars carrying coal derailed near Aberdeen on Saturday morning, authorities said. Related: Freight Train Derails In MD; Amtrak Modifies Sunday Service Officials will provide bus service Monday night to the Aberdeen and Perryville stations for passengers aboard Penn Line Train 548 — which leaves Washington, D.C., at 9 p.m. Passengers will transfer to the bus at Martin Airport station, officials said. This was not the first derailment in the area in recent years. Four train cars derailed near Havre de Grace and toppled into the Susquehanna River during a period of high winds in March 2018.
