EAST HAVEN, CT — In a collaboration with UConn, the East Haven Family Resource Center and East Haven Public Schools are looking for residents who want to affect "positive change" in the community.
Part of the UConn People Empowering People Program, an "innovative" personal, family, and civic leadership development program with a strong community focus, a 10-week session that teaches how folks can to be a positive voice for the community and its children."
The Tuesday sessions, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., provides childcare and dinner for participants. Upon completion of the program, people receive a graduation certificate and "incentives."
The sessions begin March 29.
The UConn PEP Communities Program, or adults and older teens, is designed to build on the unique strengths and life experiences of the participants and emphasizes the connection between individual and community action.
Because the UConn PEP Communities Program is adaptable to a variety of settings, the program is offered throughout the state in schools, at family resource centers, community agencies, and faith-based communities. The UConn PEP program has graduated over 3,110 participants in 25 years.
