Description

DANBURY, CT — Danbury residents have a new way to contact the cops. The Danbury Police Department has launched Tip411, an internet based tool that enables the public to text message an anonymous tip to police and lets officers respond back during the course of the investigation to create an anonymous two-way conversation. Anyone with a cell phone may send an anonymous tip to the DPD by texting DANBURYPD and their message or tip to 847411 (Tip411). Anonymous web tips can also be submitted right from this website. Police emphasize that the new technology does not take the place of calling 911 in an emergency. Messages delivered through Tip411 are not monitored 24/7. The Tip411 system is completely anonymous, as the technology removes all identifying information before officers receive it and there is no way to identify the sender, according to a DPD news release. The Tip411 tool is also available as a phone app for Apple and Android devices.
