Description
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — Washington Township Recreation is bringing yoga classes for spring and summer.
The hour-long classes will run April through June, and you don't need to be practiced in yoga; all levels of bend-ability are welcome.
The township's recreation director reminds residents that for a decade or more, doctors and other health practitioners have been recommending yoga to their patients to manage stress or depression or to serve as complementary self-care for people with back pain, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, cancer, and other medical conditions. The yoga classes are suitable for everyone, from the absolute beginner to a more seasoned practitioner, and will consist of a series of strengthening, toning, relaxing breath, and meditation exercises.
On Wednesdays from April 13 to June 29 for 12 weeks the township will offer the following sessions: Beginner Mat Yoga from 9 to 10 a.m. and Gentle Mat Yoga from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m.
On Thursdays, three yoga classes are offered. April 14 to June 30, also for 12 weeks: Early Morning Mat Yoga from 8 to 9 a.m. From April 14 to June 16, for 10 weeks, there is a Beginner Chair Yoga classs, from 10 to 11 a.m., and Lunch Break Yoga from noon to 1 p.m.
All sessions have a nonrefundable fee due before April 11. Registration forms will not be accepted after the deadline date, the township said.
All classes will be held at the Washington Township Senior Center, Long Valley, and are for ages 18 and older. For more information contact the recreation office at (908) 876-5941 or email [email protected] or go to the township's website here.
