SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — San Mateo County Supervisor David Canepa urged his county to cut all ties with Russia amidst the invasion of Ukraine, according to KCBS. Canepa reportedly sent a letter to the county's treasurer and retirement association asking them to disclose any investments the county has made related to Russia, KCBS reported on Sunday. Canepa told the radio station that as the third wealthiest county in the United States, taking this step may convince other counties to follow suit. "In my county we do not want any investment in Russia. Not one penny, not one single cent," he said to KCBS. Another Peninsula elected official, state Sen. Josh Becker (D-Menlo Park) called on Sunday to ban Russian oil imports to the United States, tweeting that Russia received $63 billion from international oil and gas sales in the third quarter of last year.
